Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a coenzyme that transfers protons (more precisely, hydrogen ions) and is involved in many metabolic reactions in cells. NADH or more precisely NADH+H+ is its reduced form. It can be reduced, carrying up to two protons (written as NADH+H+).
