Minoxidil, is a white or quasi-white crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water ,  soluble in glacial acetic acid. It can directly act on vascular wall, dilate small arteries, reduce peripheral resistance, decrease blood pressure, and also increase heart rate and cardiac output, but its antihypertensive effect is more significant and lasting than that of hydrazine.
